The paper “Impact of behavioral heterogeneity on epidemic outcome and its mapping into effective network topologies” has been published on Physical Review E.

The paper introduces a minimal extension of the SIR model that incorporates heterogeneity in susceptibility and infectivity using a bimodal population. It shows analytically and through simulations how these differences and network homophily impact on the epidemic threshold, how they can produce epidemic resurgence and that the model maps to a standard SIR process on a modified contact network.
